Petzl Reverso

The new Reverso made of hot-forged anodized aluminum is ultralight and very intuitive to use. A simple, compact and lightweight device, it can be used efficiently in a multitude of cases: both single and double, it can be secured to a first roper, one or two seconds and a pulley ( top rope ) and in addition to being able to perform a rappelling in a very comfortable way.

The rope compatibility is maximum: it allows single use with ropes from 8.5 to 10.5 mm (optimized 9.2-10.5 mm), double use from 7.1 to 9.2 mm (optimized 7 .5-9.2mm) and use with twin ropes 6.9-9.2mm thick (optimized 7.5-9.2mm). Depending on the thickness of the rope and the type of safety carabiner used with the Reverso, the braking capacity will be different; thicker ropes lead to harsher braking. A carabiner with a circular section will imply more dynamic arrests and one with an H section will allow faster braking.

In the event of a fall, the hand holding the free end must firmly pull the rope down so that it enters the V-brake zones and asymmetrical grooves. In this way, the friction increases until the rope stops. To lower a colleague who has arrived at the meeting from below, we will wind it with both hands, regulating the free end.

Designed to easily solve a blockage of the second rope thanks to the release hole made for this purpose and that allows, using a simple carabiner, to change the angle of the device when it is hung in the meeting so that the rope runs slightly.

In the rope passage area, the Reverso has been given a rounded design to prevent premature wear and provide it with great durability. Versatile and compact, it weighs only 57 g . Complies with EN 15151-2, UIAA standards. The use of gloves is recommended to belay a leader and for abseiling, in addition to extreme precautions with climbers who exceed 80 kg in weight when the rope diameters are too small.
